I joined Unislim in November 2008. At my first weigh-in, I weighed 14st 1lb. From day one, I was determined to reach my target weight.
I followed the Unislim eating plan precisely, and exercised every day. In the beginning, my exercise routine included walking and water aerobics as this suited my fitness level. I managed to lose 1st in my first month. This was the motivation I needed to go on. After the first stone, I continued to lose weight on a weekly basis.
As I lost weight and improved my fitness levels, I increased the intensity of my workout. With the help of my class leader Shirley, I set myself small attainable regular targets eg: to drop a dress size for a friend’s wedding, Christmas party etc.
I always allowed myself a weekly treat. At the beginning this might be a scone and coffee with my friend Grace after my Friday morning weigh-in. However, I changed tactics as I came closer to my target. I ditched the Friday scone, and instead would treat myself to a new lippy, some costume jewellery or clothes.
I reached my target of 10st in October 2010. I continued to attend class as a free slimmer. I was determined to continue improving my fitness levels. My daughter Megan was making her Confirmation in March 2011, and I was determined to make her proud on her big day. I joined 'fit squad' in January 2011. I was determined to tone up and look my best for Megan's Confirmation. I wore a size 10 dress for the first time in 11 years at Megan's Confirmation.
All my family now eat healthily. When eating out, I choose from the 'Free Foods' wherever possible.
If I have a function coming up, I will be extra good for the week and then enjoy the night out.
