“Unislim is, without question, the best thing I’ve ever done. I’ve tried everything to lose weight, from a personal trainer to different diet plans, but this just fits in so well with my lifestyle. I’m an A&E nurse and I do 13-hour shifts. This used to wreak havoc with my diet, but not any more. Since joining Unislim I’ve become so organised! Whenever I have a day off, I write down a three-to-five day eating plan, then I’ll do my grocery list and get my weekly shop. Preparation is key for me.”

Working Girl

“When working I used to find it very difficult to eat well, I used to grab toast for breakfast, lunch was a big dinner and then, on the way home, I might get a takeaway. Now I have a high fibre breakfast which keeps me going for longer and having a structure to my meals makes it so much easier. I never find it boring because there’s so much choice. The new Unislim Slimming and Filling cookbook is really fantastic, it’s been my saviour. Although I work shifts, I’ve requested Tuesdays off so I’m always available to attend my class on weigh-in day. Getting weighed every week is really important to me. Although I’ve reached my goal of three stone, I still won’t miss my weigh-ins.”

Variety Show

“Having a wide variety in my diet keeps me from wanting things that are bad for me. If I’m going on a night out I’ll have some rice, pasta or something substantial before I leave; it really helps. I’m eating a lot better nowadays and people have even noticed my skin is a lot better. I suffered quite badly from eczema as a child and would often get breakouts, but my skin has really improved since I started the Unislim programme.”

Top Marks

“Planning my meals might seem a bit of a pain but, at the end of the day, it’s so worth it. It’s easy to make excuses, but one of the things Unislim teaches you is; ‘Nothing tastes as good as slim feels.’ I know when I started the class I thought ’A chocolate bar will!’, but the first time I fitted into my size 10 dress, I could have told the whole of Blanchardstown Shopping Centre I was in a size 10, I was so happy. There’s no better feeling in the world than achieving your goals.”

Kitchen Confidential

  • Breakfast: “In the winter I have porridge with apricots, hazelnuts and honey. In the summer I have branflakes and fruit or berries and yoghurt with granola on top.”
  • Lunch: “Two slices of brown bread, with chicken, rocket, extra light mayonnaise and basil.”
  • Dinner: “I love the fishcakes from the Unislim cookbook, but I’m allergic to prawns so I substitute them with fresh and smoked cod. I love the chilli beef too.”
  • Snacks: ”l like the Tesco Light Options snack bars or BreakAway chocolate bars. They’re only 99 calories and they give me the chocolate fix I need. I also eat lots of fruit.”
