"Before I joined Unislim I drank two litres of Coke a day. Now, it doesn't bother me at all to pass it in the supermarket aisle! Small changes like this made my weight loss quite easy to achieve.
My commitment was there from the start. I always made sure to attend classes, whether it was morning, afternoon or evening – whenever I could get the chance. I can understand that making the time seems difficult, but I promise that when you begin to see the results you won't turn back. I found the units system worked very well for me, especially the freedom of it. If I had a good day at weigh-in, for example, I would give myself a treat the next day!
Exercise has become part of my life, too, whether is taking a good long walk in the evenings or going swimming. You do need some discipline, but feeling great is addictive!
The biggest change I've noticed has been how much my skin's health has improved. Sure, it's fantastic to lose the weight, but having suffered with bad skin from a very early age I never thought that I could wake up every morning to a clear, glowing complexion. People often ask me what makeup I'm wearing and they're shocked when I reply 'None'! I have no doubt that eating healthily has made all the difference."
Manja's advice
Catch the buzz - "You can make your own energy. Between child minding and studying you would think I would be tired. But no! I am still buzzing at the end of the day!"
Stick with it - "Losing the last seven pounds is much harder than the first seven. But the sense of achievement makes it all worthwhile."
Defy your critics - "I'm not sure my mum thought I could do it. And look at me now! I've even sent the Unislim booklets over to her in Germany, and she's trying it herself."
Cupboard Confidential
Breakfast - "I'll have porridge with water and skimmed milk, adding in some dried fruit and a sprinkling of cinnamon. Delicious."
Elevenses - "I can't live without herbal teas. Peppermint, nettle, or particularly fennel are great for detox. I also drink 2 litres of water every day."
Lunch - "There are no rules for me for lunchtime. I like to mix it up depending on my day, but I'll always include fruit and yoghurt."
Snacktime - "I like Vitagrain bars for a quick boost on the go. Or I'll make up a fruity smoothie."
Dinner - "I love pastas, topped with some very light garlic cheese. Colourful salads with chicken and new potatoes are another favourite."
