Hi Biddy
Bad news lamb is one of the only meats not on the plan!!!
No duck either as they are both very fatty. Could you really cook it and not eat it ??
What about the old reliables turkey and ham, both FREE
Happy Easter

Hi Biddy,
I would suggest that if you would really like to have lamb or duck that you count 120g, cooked weight, as other protein. They do not come under the free section as they are higher in fat and best used on the odd occasion.
You also have another option - use star treats as follows:
Leg of lamb, lean roasted - 120g cooked weight = 3.5* Duck, lean roasted - 120g cooked weight = 3.5*
As a further point of reference which you may find helpful, if you have a YUG booklet and you look up the food item you wish to use, the unit value given is equal to the star treat value.
SO you can have your lamb / duck and eat it.

Hi weigh everything,
I don't actually know how you do it but there are many topics on this forum which cover it in detail. Have a good root around and I am certain you will fin it.

Hi weigh everything
If you click on someone else's ticker you can set up your own, then copy the bb code to your own members post and hopefully that will work. It's that long since I did my own that I'm not 100%.

Hello Anne
I fell off the wagon for a while, but I have been drinking more water,I find it much easier when the weather is like this.
I have gone for a few walks too and its good for my head never mind anything else.
Onwards and downwards!

Guys,
I just joined last night and have a couple of questions about this Maxi Plan.
How do you know what a product should be classed as. I see a lot of questions here asking what a certain product comes in as. I can easily understand the points systems as you simply look at the label. But how does the Maxi Plan work for products you see in the store.
All the recipes on the site are pointed and do not seem to be geared up towards the maxi plan. At the meeting last night the Leader gave a speech on reading labels in store and how to understand the product contents, what has this to do with the Maxi Plan (if anything)
Another point to make, both my wife and myself joined last night, we both have to eat the same number of carbs, protein etc, even though I have to lose about 11 stone and she would need to lose 4-5 stone. How does that work at all
Thanks in advance

Hi There and welcome to Unislim. Deciding which list any food comes under is easy enough when you get the hang of it. Use the lists on pages 2-4 of the Maximizing plan as a guide and ask your class leader or just post something here if you're in doubt. Although the recipes are unitized they can all be used with the Max plan just count the carbs/oils etc. Understanding food labels helps you watch the fat and sugar content and make wiser choices when shopping. Both you and your wife would have 7 carbs a day and 3 from other fruits and from the fats and oils. Of course you can each eat as you wish from the free foods list. have a great week . Eithne M

hiya I noticed that some people were saying they were struggling with drinking the water! i couldnt drink the water at all to begin with! but if you are drink tea you can use that towards your water (i think). but when i started i was sitting down with glasses of water trying to drink them then i found they were running straight through me! I started carrying a 500ml bottle of water in my hand bag, and found that when it was in the bag i was drinking it in sips through the day and i didnt notice it going! i would now have to refill it twice or three times throught the day!
I am looking for a bit of encouragement as well i think!! i had a really good week last week and had reach 13stone even for the 1st time since i was about 20 i was chuffed and for the first two days after the weight in i was chuffed and determined to be under it at the next weigh in! i went back last night i was up!! i know it was struggling a bit with water retention this week! but i had done 9 1/2 hour walks skipped twice, i was so disappointed. im struggling to keep the faith in it when i know there are weeks that i have pushed out the boat a bit and lost and a week when i know i was alright and i was up!

As you said yourself Key water retention can be a big pain on the hips, sorry I mean b/side. Don't give up you are doing great. Give it another week if you still don't see the results that you think you deserve then try changing your exercise around or mix up what you are eating, make sure you have droped the number of units/carbs you are allowed.
Good luck for this week

Thanks need2loss! i have lost 26lbs so far and i had hit so many plateaus between then and now and in the 4/5 weeks prior to this i had a steady weight loss ok it may have been only 1lb or 2 but i felt okay ive managed to clear the plateaus and start moving again. i had been on 19 units and they recently moved me 17, I really have been only using 15/16 a day, with the hope that it would start to shift the weight!!
Im just hoping if i have a half alright week this week and i loss the water, i should get at least this weeks +1lb back off! Im just trying to take one day at a time now and i just know that this is a bad time of the day for me its the time that the slum hits and getting the dinner in an hour or two and i tend to snackQ! so trying to keep myself busy and mind off it

Hi, i am doing the maxi plan and i am just wondering about drinks. i am addicted to pepsi. does anyone know the difference in Pepsi, Pepsi max and diet pepsi. diet pepsi and pepsi max seem to have the same amount of calories so am i right in assuming they are zero. also can anyone name an unsweetened fruit juice as i can use as one of my five a day. thanks

Hi Curragh, Pepsi is the full sugar version so that is definitely out. Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max, to my knowledge are FREE on Maxi. BUT, Personally I think it is not a good idea to include too much of these in a healthy eating plan, they are carbonated and cause bloating. It is much healthier to get into the habit of drinking water and add a little no added sugar cordial if you want eg Robinsons no added sugar or Mi-wadi no added sugar varieties.
With regards to unsweetened fruit juice, I like Tropicana and 150ml = 1 fruit serving. There are others on the market of course, just look for unsweetened ones and one not made from concentrate.
Happy slimming.

Hey I know this isnt to do with max plan but the unit plan! I was craving chololate last night and went up to the shop and in an effort of finding a piece of chocolate with minimum damage i came across a balisto bar with yogurte and fruit and it was lovely there wer two fingers in it and it had 94 kcals with 5.2gs of fat! compared to mars or other chocolate that would have up to 200/300 kcals and it was real chocolate so it satisfied my craving! I know it comes out of my treats! just wondering does anyone know how many units are in them
