Please see below some answers to question from the Food Maximizing plan:

Unislim  Ready Meals

Low/med carbohydrates as they are a mix of lean protein and low/med carbohydrates.

Knorr Meal Maker sachets

Free Food

Cully and Scully Soups

Vegetable soups are free but not creamy ones.

Beetroot

Free Food

Coconut Milk

High in saturated fat so not a good replacement for regular milk.  Otherwise in a curry 100ml coconut milk would come under “other carbohydrates”.  Reduced fat coconut milk – 150ml is a portion

Extra Light Mayo

Free Food

Philadelphia Cheese

30g under “other proteins” for regular or light cream cheese, 50g for extra-light.

Sardines in Brine

Sardines are oil rich fish so come under “other proteins”

Seeds

30g under “other proteins”

Dried Fruit  (raisons, prunes  etc)

50g under fruit section

Rice Cakes

Qty 2 under “other carbohydrates”

Barley

Low/Med carbohydrates  100g

Baked Beans

All varieties are free but preferably choose reduced sugar/salt.

Low Low hard cheese & cheese slices

50g reduced fat hard cheese

“other proteins”

Low Low cheese triangles

2 triangles would be an “other protein” choice

Actimal  fat- free

Free Food

Actimal  regular

“other protein 1 bottle is 1 portion

Wheat Crackers

2 crackers under

Low/med carbohydrates

Soya custard and yoghurt

125g “other proteins”

Muller Rice

1 pot  “other carbohydrates”

Peas

All are free.  For tinned versions choose low-salt, low sugar varieties

Reduced-fat crème fraiche

Not free.  One portion is 30g (large tablespoon) and is in “other proteins” category

Small oranges

2 is a portion of fruit and they contain some natural sugar so are not free

Sweetcorn

Free

Fox’s wholemeal crackers

2 is a portion under low-medium GI carbs

Batchelors chicken noodle cup-a-soup

These are not free, would be under other carbs.  One sachet made up would be half a portion

Cottage cheese with chives and pineapple

Yes, still free

Branston pickle

Under optional extras as 1 tbsp (15g) relish/pickle

Horseradish

Free

Extra light salad cream

Free

Spaghetti hoops

Low & med GI carbs, 100g per portion

Skimmed milk

Is free therefore skimmed milk powder also free

Tea / coffee

If intakes are kept to about 5 cups a day then the caffeine intake will not have any detrimental effects on the weight loss of the person

Mackerel and salmon

Oily fish and therefore contain higher fat contents than tinned tuna (which is also an oily fish when fresh but loses most of its omega-3 oils when tinned).  This is why mackerel and salmon are not free

Tinned salmon

Portion = 100g

Full-fat ice cream

3 stars per small scoop 50g/ml

Birds Eye potato waffles

Other carbs, 2 waffles = 1 portion

Sugar in tea or coffee

Optional extras = 2 tsp is a portion

Low-fat hot chocolate

Those made with water are free but those made with milk you would have to take into account how much milk, what type you are using etc and work out from the portions allowed for milk

Olives

Optional extras (10 = 1 portion)

Low-fat peanut butter

Optional extras (1 tbsp)

Pizza base

Other carbs.  Portion = 30g

Vegetable burgers

Low and medium GI carbs.  Portion = 1 veggie burger

Figs

2 is a portion

Wedges

Other carbs, 100g = portion

Chinese and Thai

Refer to eating out guide

Erin low-fat soups

Vegetable based ones are free

Koka noodles

Other carbs 100g (cooked) portion

Popcorn

Low/med GI carbs 25 = portion

Coleslaw

The veg part is free but it depends on how much mayo is on it.  Approx 2 tsp light mayo in a portion therefore this would be one portion of fats & oils

Potato salad

Again depends on amount of mayo in it and amount of potato.  E.g. one portion contains 1.5 baby potatoes (half a low/med GI portion) and 2 tsp light mayo (one portion fats/oils)

Frozen yoghurt

Same as low-fat ice-cream

Corned beef

Other proteins (50g = 1 portion)

Risotto rice

Other carbs (30g uncooked = 1 portion)

Full-fat yoghurt

Other proteins = 125g per portion

Laughing cow light cheese

Other proteins (2 triangles)

Muffins

(bread type) other carbs  a half = 1 portion

Grapefruit (contra – indication with many medicines)

All of our plans should be followed in conjunction with advice from a doctor for anyone taking medication or suffering from health problems that may be affected by diet

Tinned Strawberries

Only fresh berries are free.  100g of tinned strawberries in juice or syrup is one fruit portion

Hi Kitt,

For soups check the ingredients. If it's only tomato and flavourings its FREE.
If the soup contains potato you must count the carb in that.

McCamrbridge brown read is 1 low/med gi carb per slice

Hi fifi23,

100g oven baked chips = 1 other carb.
You can buy our eating out guide in your class and at the moment you can buy UGO ( unit guide out ) YUG ( your unit guide ) and 6 week jotter for just €5 for all 3 booklets.

to answer your question in your next post, 2 low fat sausages grilled = 1 optional protein.

Hope this helps,

Hi Orla,

If you weigh them "Dry" each 30g counts as 1 carb. You need to check that variety that you are using, as you know some are flat, some are rippled. But for all pasta 30g uncooked weight = 1 carb on maximiser.

Enjoy

Hi I have two questions for food on max plan. One is mine and one is a friends.
1st mine - Ambrosia Creamed Rice Pudding Low Fat? Where does this come in?
2nd friends - Instant Noodles, Koka, King Li & the like. Nutrional info is as follows 471kcal per 100g and 20.3g of fat. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they are a no no but I said I'd ask!

Hi Emily and need2 lose,

I will answer your questions in order of their posting :

Ambrosia Creamed Rice 1 pot = 1 other carb
Regarding the noodles 100g cooked weight ( about 30g dry weight )= 1 other carb

100g cooked potato - mashed, boiled, oven chipped, in their skin, out of their skin, baked = 1 other carb.

Baby new potatoes and sweet potato ONLY fall under the low / med GI carb.

Keep up the questions, it shows you are trying!

Anne thanks so much for your reply.

This max plan is great. I've been following it properly from Saturday and at my weigh in last night I was 2lbs down. I'm definitely crediting the extra pound this week to the 3.5 days following the max plan. Can't wait to get weighed next week. I've just had a big salad plate for my dinner that had only 1 portion of carbs and 1 other protein, everything else was free food, I'm so full now its great. I'm actually finding it really hard to get in my full 5 portions of carbohydrates a day now.

Oh & another plus for the max plan. I just went to Dunnes and tried one a size 14 dress in Savida and it fit me! I usually struggle to get into a size 16. I was so so happy when I tried it and it fit. Tongue

Thanks for that Anne but when I went home last night there was a bit of a change to the menu.  Instead of a baked pot we ended up having stir fry chicken with wholemeal pasta.

Can anyone tell me how many treat stars are in 100ml glass of white wine and 1tbs of cream? Thanks
