5 reasons to drink... Plenty of water

5 reasons to drink… plenty of water

Its calorie free, doesn’t cost the earth and has a distinct taste you can never say you don’t like.  This summer, make sure you know all the reasons why water is the Unislim top holiday tipple.

  1. Drinking plenty of fluids helps keep your blood pressure stable – dehydration can lead to a fall in blood pressure and a loss of energy.

  1. We often mistake thirst for hunger and end up reaching for sugary snacks as a pick me up.  Staying hydrated will help reduce these false feelings and next time you feel hungry and its not a meal time, trying drinking a glass of water before you order.

  1. Drinking water will help flatten your stomach because, ironically bloating is caused by water retention which is brought on by not drinking enough water!  Aim for at least 2 litres a day, that’s around 8-10 glasses for a flatter tum.

  1. Keeping hydrated improves your digestive health – water helps dissolve fibre that you get from bread and cereals so that substances can pass through more easily, avoiding that sluggish full feeling!

  1. Drinking enough water keeps joints and muscles in top working order, with the added bonus that it boosts concentration and energy levels.

Yes you can drink too much water. If you drink too much you can dilute the water soluble vitamins and minerals. 1.5 - 2 litres daily is recommended and up to 3 litres on a day if you are doing heavy exercise or the weather is particularly hot.
