6 ways to beat cellulite

We all dread unsightly orange peel on our bums and tums! But cellulite affects almost 90% of women so don’t let the skin on your pins blight your life – while there is no quick or definite cure, by addressing its fundamental causes through your diet, you can help banish bumpy skin forever!  Here are our top 6 uniquely Unislim cellulite send offs that will pave the way for smoother skin!

Oily Fish

Oily fish is high in skin-strengthening omega-3 fatty acids – great for reducing inflammation as well as boosting the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems, all which help keep cellulite at bay.  Counted as one of your optional proteins in our Food Maximising plan, make sure and choose either a portion (no more than 100g) of salmon or mackerel to get your daily dose of fatty acid goodness!

Avocado

Like oily fish, avocados are also packed full of essential fatty acids which helps strengthen the skin while keeping it supple and elastic.  Don’t be put off by the fat content – remember it’s not all bad and it’s just as important to eat foods with ‘good’ fat as it is avoiding foods with bad fat!  Our Food Maximizing plan recognizes the importance of this and includes half an avocado as one of your fats and oils allowances.  Struggling to be creative with avocado in your recipes? - Check out our delicious summer Unislim avocado inspired recipes online!

Asparagus

Asparagus is another food with circulation-boosting properties – by increasing the strength of your veins, blood is able to bump around your body more efficiently and help you win the war against bumpy thighs!  On top of this, asparagus is a great stress reliever due to its abundance of folic acid, which can help stabilise a stressful mood. As we all know, prolonged levels of stress can increase fat storage on the body so, by adding foods such as asparagus to your diet can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.  Lastly, (as if you didn’t know already!), asparagus is a Unislim FREE food, so fill your plate with this mood mellowing, cellulite send off veg!

Bananas

Bananas are a rich source of potassium, which is helpful for reducing cellulite in many ways.  Firstly, potassium helps to reduce water retention which can be a leading cause of cellulite and helps support the lymphatic system to ensure it works efficiently at circulating fluid and cleansing the body of impurities.  Getting rid of toxins will prevent fat cells sticking together, ensuring only smooth and subtle skin!  Bananas can be counted as one of your optional fruits on the food maximising plan, so whether it’s as a snack or in a smootie, give cellulite the heave ho by including them as one of your five a day.

Berries

To help keep skin firm and taut and disguise the appearance of cellulite, try adding some vitamin C to your diet to help boost your skin's collagen levels. Berries are a particularly good source of vitamin C, and are a Unislim FREE food, so don’t worry about over indulging! Like all good cellulite fighting foods, berries are also a great source of antioxidants which help rid the body of toxins and keep the lymphatic system moving, especially in cellulite-prone areas like bums and tums!

Cranberry juice

Cranberry juice is often prescribed as a non-medicinal remedy for painful urinary or bladder infections as its well known for its ability to cleanse and flush out toxins so it’s really no surprise it is also able to cleanse the lymph system.  A sluggish lymphatic system is one of the primary causes of cellulite, but cranberry juice helps emulsify stubborn fat deposits so they can be easily flushed out.  It’s a cheap and flavoursome alternative to water and as long as you choose the low in sugar variety, you can add it to your FREE food maximising list and have it as often as you want!
