I'm really glad I made the most of yesterday's sunshine! At last I had an excuse to dust down our rusty barbeque and toss on a couple of yummy swordfish. There's nothing like sitting in the garden and dining al fresco, even if the grass is now growing up around our ears thanks to the relentless rain. So it was only Tuesday, but to celebrate the unusual sighting of a yellow blob in the sky, I opened up a bottle of chilled white and indulged my senses, while I imagined what life would be like if we had just one more week of this glorious weather. Barbeques, trips to the beach, open-toe sandals, ice-cream – oh, one does get carried away with all that fresh air, but two sunny days don't maketh a summer! I was even feeling slightly smug at all those people who reportedly rushed out to buy last minute overly priced get-out-quick holiday packages to escape our miserable weather. But they were probably right, as today the sky is back to grey (but no rain yet, hooray). But at least the barbeque is clean and I was inspired to put together some delicious recipes for this week's Sunday World article. Here's a taste of what's to come!
